Do you love to sing? We do too.
We are always on the lookout for new singers, so would love to hear from you if you are interested in joining us. It isn't often we have vacancies, but even if we don't, please get in touch so we can start a conversation. Many of our singers have just made that first move - and if you have good experience, we will always be pleased to have a chat.
We have an unusual rehearsal format. Rehearsals take place at approximately monthly intervals on a Friday evening plus Saturday (morning & afternoon) in a lovely hall in Church Langton, close to Market Harborough. This rehearsal format allows those who can’t commit to a regular weekly schedule to become members and helps us have a concentrated but sociable rehearsal.
The choir typically performs four or five concerts each year plus either a UK Cathedral visit (to sing the services) or an overseas tour every two years. We also dedicate some of our rehearsal time specifically to choral technique - involving workshops etc. Sometimes, we bring in a specialist vocal coach to help improve.
We are an auditioned choir (not as scary as it may sound) with a reputation to maintain and while we work hard, we play hard too - it's in our DNA..!
To help succession planning, we particularly welcome younger singers in all voice parts. To encourage this, we are able to make various concessions to those under 23 (e.g. waive of subscriptions, subsidised foreign and UK trips, choral development from our MD). All members however, will need musical ability - sight reading, a fresh sound and good pitch are especially prized, but a good blending voice and an eagerness to learn are the absolute requirements.
The entry process isn’t onerous. Once you’ve completed an application, you will be invited to some or all of a weekend rehearsal at which you will meet the choir, have a good sing and audition (in private, don’t worry!) for the MD. If we have a vacancy, that’s it, but there are places on waitlists that we maintain for each voice.
Come on - we’re a friendly bunch and we’d love to meet you!
